🎣 Club Rules & Information

Welcome to the official rules section of our society. These rules are in place to ensure the safety, fairness, and enjoyment of all members and to protect our waters and wildlife.

📜 General Rules

  • All members must attend a minimum of four society meetings per year.

  • Fishing on Society waters is at members' own risk.

  • No littering – all litter and tackle must be removed from the water and surrounding area.

  • Anglers may use up to two rods, but both baits must be in the same swim. Only one peg per member is allowed. Lines must be reeled in if another member wishes to fish your peg.

  • No stalking allowed.

  • Night fishing is strictly prohibited and will result in a 3-month ban. Repeat offences will require a committee hearing (excludes Towers Road).

  • All fish, alive or dead, must be returned to the water.

  • Use of keepnets must comply with Environment Agency regulations.

  • Fish over 4lbs may not be retained in keepnets unless during official Society matches on our own waters.

  • Lead weights or method feeders over half an ounce are banned.

  • A suitable landing net must be carried and ready for use at all times.
     

👥 Guests & Membership Cards

  • Senior members may bring one guest per visit, with prior approval.

  • A guest permit must be obtained in advance from the Membership Secretary (Mr. D. Grogan – 0161 483 0319) for £5.

  • A valid rod licence for the guest is required when applying.

  • Membership cards are non-transferable. Misuse will lead to expulsion.

  • All members must participate in at least one working party per year.
     

🚫 Conduct & Behaviour

  • Abuse or bullying of members will not be tolerated.

  • Offenders will face disciplinary action from the committee and may be reported to the police.
     

🌙 Night Fishing Policy

Under the Theft Act (1968), unauthorised fishing or attempted removal of fish is a prosecutable offence.

Night fishing is not allowed – no fishing tackle may be in your possession on club waters:

  • From one hour after sunset to one hour before sunrise

This rule applies to:

  • Mill Brow Ponds

  • Woodford Pond

  • Henbury Lake
